Berkshire Breeze and Royal Lodge entrant Tollard Royal look the most interesting newcomers in a novice in which PEAK PERFECT sets the standard on his opening Ffos Las third a fortnight ago.

Solomons Judgement had GOLDEN CLAIM (nap) just behind over C&D this month but he was the better suited of the pair by the way the race unfolded and the selection is fancied to turn things round on 2lb better terms. Headora, whose latest Tapeta second has been boosted since, is another to consider.

This is stronger than the C&D handicap in which Thunderclap readily justified strong support last time. He may well be up to defying a 6lb rise from the outside stall, but ACROSS THE NILE is also open to improvement for a yard in good nick and he should appreciate the stiffer test having been dropped 2lb after a satisfactory handicap debut last time.

There was a lot to like about the debut effort of ABBEY HEIGHTS last month, when best of the newcomers behind a stablemate of leading danger Thunder Power at Haydock, especially given he was dropped in off a steady pace. He’ll have learned plenty from that.

Some well-handicapped fillies along with some unexposed ones and none of them would be a surprise winner. SPRING GLOW falls into the former camp and although this is competitive it is a lower grade than her respectable effort on her return to the AW at Wolverhampton. If anything Thanielle is even better treated on her useful C&D effort in December and she rates a big danger back here. Persuasive Powers gives the impression she can improve with racing and this new trip so is also considered.

It’s very possible that Zikany still has further progress in him and he is respected, although 1m3f may not be in his favour now and his sire has a modest record here. IRISH LEGEND is given the vote instead, as he is 2-2 on the AW and has been running well in better company than this on turf lately.

Not an easy race to sort out, with the twelve runners having managed just a single win between them. Habitual hard-pullers Basharat and Nurse Florence both need to settle better, Pinball Wizard isn’t straightforward and Equisential has been running over 1m this summer. Ray Day should be competitive at this level but the vote goes to AVENTURINA, who’s lightly raced and showed more on her AW debut last time.
