Are You Ready to Slay the 2021 GUKPT Goliath?

2021 Goliath

The Goliath returns online at Grosvenor Poker on August 25 and it will be huge. Although the live edition of the Goliath has fallen victim to the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Grosvenor Poker is doing everything in its power to ensure the 2021 Goliath will be nothing short of massive.

Grosvenor Poker has reduced the total buy-in from £125 to £110, which will please the frugal players among you, but this does not mean a reduction in the guarantee. Far from it, in fact, because the 2021 Goliath has a gargantuan £250,000 guaranteed prize pool, more than double the £100,000 guarantee from 2020! The 2021 Goliath will be, without a doubt, the biggest tournament held on the iPoker Network this year.

2021 Goliath Schedule

This year’s Goliath features five Day 1s; the first shuffles up and deals at 8:00 p.m. on August 25. Each flight costs £110 to enter, and you receive 25,000 chips for your initial investment. Blinds start at 50/100 and increase every 20-minutes, or 10-minutes if you jump into the Day 1E Turbo.

Late registration stays open until the end of the 13th level, which is two hours and ten minutes, during which time you can re-enter up to four times.

All five Day 1s conclude after the 17th level. Have chips in front of you at this point and you progress to Day 2 on August 29.

Past Goliath Championships

The Goliath first appeared in 2011, and it became an instant hit with those who bought in. Some 1,765 players competed in the inaugural Goliath. Lee Rawson outlasted them all, and turned his £120 into £32,705.

Attendances increased year-on-year right up to 2019 when a staggering 9,300 players bought in, creating a £911,410 prize pool. Lee Reynolds won in 2019. He walked away with £64,601 after a five-handed deal where third-place finisher, Cristian Tamas, padded his bankroll with £80,548!

Last year’s Goliath moved online to Grosvenor Poker thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. An impressive crowd of 2,013 players bought in, and Gerard “WRDortmund7” Barclay finished top of the pile and received £42,248.
