on Zennie62 YouTube Live

California is the Zennie62Media guest tonight at 7:30 PM PST / 10:30 PM EST. He’s talking about the proposed legislation for legalized online and retail sports betting. Here are the basics:

1. SCA-6 is a bill in California that, if passed Thursday and with Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature, would put sports betting legalization to a public vote in November 2020.
2. Senator Bill Dodd, the sponsor of SCA-6 believes now is the time for California to make sports betting legal as they are in critical need of alternate forms of funding since the COVID-19 outbreak.
3. Estimates show that California could see near a billion dollars annually from a seasoned sports betting industry if the pastime were made legal.
4. The U.S. Supreme Court made this possible when it struck down a 1992 federal law prohibiting sports betting on May 14th 2018.

Senator Bill Dodd says the measure would lead to between $500 million and $700 million in annual economic impact for California.
