Belmont Race No. 9 (5:36 p.m. ET/2:36 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes the closers in the Critical Eye Stakes. If this was “run on paper,” it looks to me like the inside horses (Nos. 1, 2 & 3) would go to the lead while the outside horses (Nos. 4, 5 & 6) would sit back in this one-turn mile and take over down the stretch. Among the favorites, I regard #5 More Mischief as having the best chance to win, but I’ll be betting whichever mare goes off at higher odds between #4 Mrs. Orb (10/1 morning line) and #6 The Great Johanna (15/1). I like Mrs. Orb a little better as the more consistent closer as she had four straight wins at the end of last year against better competition, though The Great Johanna had the better last race last time out. I’ll box 4, 5 & 6 in exactas and also in trifectas in case the race plays out exactly as predicted.
