Ole Miss senior quarterback Matt Corral is among the top Heisman Trophy candidates, with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III. and Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud. Corral and the Rebels ranks sixth in the FBS in total offense at 341 yards per game.
Corral Plays Through It
The Rebels’ Matt Corral had season-lows in passing yards (185) and total offense (209) while playing with an ankle injury that required a pain-killing shot before the Rebels’ 31-17 victory over LSU on Saturday.
While Corral does not appear in danger of missing the Auburn game, it is clear he was not at 100% against the Tigers. He had 426 yards in total offense and set career highs with 30 carries and 195 yards in the 31-26 victory at Tennessee on Oct. 16, but he but rolled an ankle late in that game and was forced to miss one play. His legs appeared to go out from under him on another play on the ensuing series.
With Corral limited, Ole Miss turned to the ground game, rushing 50 times for 266 yards and three touchdowns against LSU. Running backs Snoop Conner had 14 carries for 117 yards and Jerrion Ealy had 12 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown. Corral had 24 yards rushing and his ninth rushing touchdown, and he also caught a 19-yard option pass.
Rebels’ starting left guard Caleb Warren has missed the last three games after undergoing ankle surgery. Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (foot) has missed the last three and wide receiver and Braylon Sanders (lower body) was injured early at Tennessee and did not play against LSU. Their status for Auburn is unknown.

Saving Its Season
Auburn kept afloat in the SEC, at least in the short term, with a 38-23 victory at Arkansas on Oct. 16 before a bye last week. The Tigers caught Arkansas at a good time, a week after the Razorbacks’ 52-51 loss at Ole Miss when the Porkers failed on a two-point conversion pass after a touchdown pass as time expired in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Bo Nix is having his best season under new coach Bryan Harsin’s system, but he still is completing only 60.7% of his passes with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. Running backs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter have combined for 1,018 yards rushing.
The War Eagles were cautiously optimistic that captain and linebacker Owen Pappoe would return for Ole Miss after missing four games because of a leg injury.
By the Numbers
Auburn is 9-1 overall and 7-3 ATS following a bye week dating to a 30-22 victory over Ole Miss at a 2.5-point favorite in 2013. The Tigers are 7-3 straight up and ATS in its last 10 home games following a bye dating to 2004, 2-2 ATS in their last four in that spot.

The Rebels are 4-2-1 ATS this season, 1-1 on the road. Ole Miss has lost five straight games in the series and is 1-3-1 ATS in those five.
The Rebels are 3-14 in the last 17 meetings, 5-10-2 ATS. They covered as a 17-5point dog in their meeting on the Plains, 20-14 in 1029.
Ole Miss had five sacks against LSU and has five sacks in two straight games for the first time since 1999. This the best Ole Miss team in recent years and among Auburn’s least good, so look for the line to move in the visitor’s favor.
