BURNING BUSH is progressing well and he produced his best effort yet when scoring at Newbury last month. He proved well suited by having a solid tempo to chase back down at 6 furlongs, and he stuck to his task well to prevail by a neck. The application of cheekpieces may bring about a bit more improvement and Burning Bush looks up to defying this 6lbs higher mark.
EURAQUILO is stoutly bred, so it bodes well that he proved so competitive over 7 furlongs on his debut at Redcar last month. Euraquilo was an unlucky loser in third on that occasion as he was making headway when forced to switch over a furlong out. He stayed on well to get to within a length of the winner and he looks sure to progress for this step up in trip and greater emphasis on stamina.
YAGOOD is thriving at present, and he made it four wins for the campaign when successful here last month. That 4-and-three-quarter-length success was a career-best effort from Yagood and a 5lbs rise in the weights looks fair. He can add to his tally here.
DUBAI STATION showed smart form last season, notably winning the Pavilion Stakes at Newcastle shortly after racing’s resumption. He was badly out of form at the start of this season and failed to beat a rival home on his first three outings. He took a step back in the right direction when runner-up in a conditions event at Hamilton recently though, and he can resume winning ways if building on that more encouraging effort.
BELLEVARDE was strong in the betting and justified support at Windsor last week, putting up her best effort of the campaign in the process. That was a deserved success for Bellevarde, who has been proving consistent. She should launch another bold bid under a 4lbs penalty.
SHAMAROUSKI made little impact on his first start for Michael Wigham at Wolverhampton in November, but he took a big step forward when scoring narrowly at Chelmsford in February, doing his best work at the finish. He shaped as if he would come on for the run when third over this course and distance last month and this low-mileage five-year-old could have a bit more to offer.
INTERCESSOR was a comfortable winner over this course and distance last month and he followed that up with a creditable effort at Epsom nine days later – beaten less than a length in fourth. He didn’t get a clear run at Epsom, so can have his effort marked up slightly. He remains on a competitive mark here.
